In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Bottom Line:

Fede Alvarez did a fantastic job with this film.  When taking on a remake of this stature one always contemplates the possibility of ruining such a staple in the horror movie genre.  Being 91 minutes long, this movie is action packed and a straight up thrill ride.  Especially if your like us and like a little blood, guts, excrement, brains, nail guns, and of course chain saws on your thrill rides.  If you are looking to writhe in your seat or scream at the screen this is it.  Keep in mind the high density of gore.  Folks, don't be bringing your 5 year old to this one please.

The Pairing:
We recommend something high gravity for this one.  The Torpedo Extra IPA by Sierra Nevada is an awesome compliment to any movie going experience.  The controlled bitterness will settle well with bitter thoughts you'll have after seeing this much gore in 91 minutes.  Also, the extra alcohol content will give that extra confidence when your knee deep in horror hell.
